Nobody can make you feel bad about yourself unless you give them permission
I remember when I first heard this statement. It seemed so simple and yet thought provoking at the same time. We don’t realize it at the time, because what we first realize is the negative emotion (feeling bad) and then we have to find the source of that (most often some other person). This can be true anywhere from the workplace, school, friendships, relationships, and more. Some people have the need to bully other people by making negative remarks or looking down on someone. Quite often it happens when the person themselves was bullied one time or another. The key here is that while they may attempt to speak some negative words into your brain, you have the right to keep that door closed and the sound system on mute. In other words, lock your brain and heart, they are yours and only yours. They don’t need to be subjected to negativity. Instead of giving that “bully” the permission to enter, say “entrance denied!” Once you realize you have the power to accept or reject the bullying, the sooner you can get away from their control.
