Katy Perry’s “Birthday” lyric video alone has gained a whopping 52 million+ views in just four months, so it is no surprise that it is in the running to be crowned the VMA’s Best Lyric Video. This entertaining lyric video features the lyrics of Katy’s hit song being baked and decorated onto different themed cakes, cupcakes, and other yummy treats! The lyric video is almost just as fun as the actual music video, and definitely proves how worthy it is for the nomination. Katy is up against big names such as 5 Seconds of Summer, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, and Austin Mahone for this award, making it a close call. But, with a fanbase as big as Katy’s and a song as big as “Birthday”, she will undoubtedly be receiving a massive number of votes in time for the premiere on Sunday!

Since it’s release in September of 2013, Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” has been on Billboard top charts for weeks on end and reached number 1 in countries all around the world. Because of this, it is no surprise to us that the music video reached the same amount of success. The official video, showing Katy as a powerful Pharaoh in a colorful Ancient Egyptian setting, is the 18th most viewed video in YouTube history with 540 million views and counting. With the amount of success Katy has achieved on just this one video, it would be incredibly shocking if she didn’t walk away with a VMA Moonman to celebrate it!

Katy has not only received recognition for her video for “Dark Horse”, she also secured a nod in the Best Collaboration category for collaborating with rapper Juicy J for the song. Juicy J surely added a fun element to both the song and music video, and we will have to tune in on Sunday night to see if this duo takes home the award for putting their minds together!
