FTV Star Contestants Q&A

Posted on 15 Sep 2009 at 2:34pm

Get to know who our FTV Star Contestants are!

Q: How would you describe your FTV Star experience?

Antonija – “This competition is what I’ve been waiting for a long time. There is a lot of other talented people and it made me fell great because they are trying to make they dreams come true like I do.”

Ava McRae -  “My FTV star experience so far as been thrilling! I’m so glad that other people from around the globe are enjoying my music!! I love to hear their feedback and opinion so I can improve everytime I perform. Thanks to everyone who voted for me!”

Brittany Minguez – “I think that FTV Star is an AMAZING experience and everyone who loves singing and would like to pursue singing in their future should definitely submit! I’ve received more publicity from this competition and LOVE the feeling of chasing my dreams!!! ”

Kelly Lavender – “It’s been great! i’mve never done anything like this before so it’s extremely exciting!”

Sigrid – “I think that FTV Star has been great fun so far, and I have really enjoyed it!”

Q : How would you describe your style of singing?

Christina Renee – “I’m always told that I sound like a mixture of Colbie Calliet, Taylor Swift, and Megan Joy Corkery. Not sure how true that is. But I’d say I’m pop/country/folk. I don’t really do much to change my voice so sometimes I do weird rift things that gives it a country or rough feel.”

Cordelia - “I really don’t know. I leave it to others to judge. I don’t think people’s voices should be put into one category, they’re all so individual.”

Courtney Meloche – ” I don’t really quite know how to describe it, to be honest. I tend to perform a mishmash of different styles. I do some jazz, some folk, a little bit of classic rock, and now I am starting college for musical theatre… a little bit of something for everybody!”

Shaye - “My style of singing definitely has a rock feel to it.  If I could give it a specific genre, I would probably say Alternative Rock, because it’s a lot more rock sounding than pop.”

Q: When did you begin singing and who was your biggest musical influence?

Eriel Ronquillo – “I have been singing since i was young, around 6 years old. My mum and dad and sister sing, so its not much to say that thats how i ended up singing. I didnt really have a huge musical influence, I was born into a Filipino family who loved to sing, so it basically started from there.”

Jen Leigh – “I have been singing since I could talk maybe even before. When I was 2 years old I took the microphone at my dads wedding reception and sang a couple songs. I have a lot of musical influences my biggest though would have to be my singing coach Barbara DeAngelis.”

Julia Pernicone – “I have been singing for as long as I can remember, but I began working seriously on my singing when I was 10.  I loved Kelly Clarkson and Mariah Carey.”

Kim Larsen – “I actually started singing from the day I knew what it was. I was told by my parents that I was always curious and interested in music or award shows, that I enjoyed singing along with whoever was on the television. I know that when I discovered “David Bowie” at a very young age from seeing the movie, “Labyrinth,” I was pretty enthralled with who he was and what kind of music he made. I began collecting his tapes.”

Q: What was your favorite memory of the summer?

Lindsay Alward – “There’s been lots of musical memories, including here at FTV….I’ve had an amazing summer, and got to spend it with some great people. I have the best friends and family and it was good to spend time with them. I didn’t really do too many things out of the ordinary. I really enjoyed going tubing and swimming in the lake at my friends house, that was definitely a memorable day.”

Marissa Kate – “My most memoriable experience this summer is definitly scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef it was unbeliveable! and my whole trip to Australia was just absolutly amazing, but nothing compaires to being able to breath underwater and following a turtle for 30 minutes lol!”

Mike Martin – “My favorite memory of the summer would have to be one of the nites I went to New York City with my friends, had some interesting train rides on the way home with the infamous FACE and just sitting back and hanging with the friends.”

Rebecca Hsieh – “That would have to be sitting at my desk and writing songs all day.”
