Emmy nominated recording artist Drew Seeley is kicking 2012 off with a bang. He is lending not only his talents but his time to a very special cause. Drew participated in the Donate a Song Project to grant the wish of a very special girl.
Brooke Shockley, a 14 year old cancer patient at John Hopkins Children’s Center was paired up with Drew this past July, who happens to be her favorite artist. He happily lent his time and musical talents to create a song in Brooke’s honor. “I’m lucky to be able to inspire people with doing what I love,” Drew said. After a Skype session over the summer, Brooke got off the computer and said “That was the best 9 minutes and 44 seconds of my life.”
After the song was written, Drew flew to the John Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, Maryland to play his new song for Brooke. The song motivated her to stay inspired and strong throughout this journey she is going through. A music video was created from the performance he gave at the hospital. Watch the Drew Seeley Fly Music Video.
Drew is the very first artist to write a song for the Donate a Song Project. This organization was co-founded by a 19 year old Princeton student, Leora Friedman when she was only a junior in high school. This program aims to inspire celebrities to write an original song for their followers who have fallen seriously ill.
100% of the proceeds will be donated to the pediatric oncology research team at the John Hopkins Children’s Center and will inspire people all over the world.

Many of us have been affected in some way by cyberbullying. Have you ever felt bad by something that was written on a website or social media site, perhaps your friends purposely left you out of something and you found out about it on Facebook. Guess what, that is called cyberbullying, and you have every right to feel it’s wrong, because it is. Don’t let it continue, and be sure to talk to a parent or a close friend about it. Talking about it can really help. Cyberbullying is so real that ABC Family has a brand new movie about this very topic starring Emily Osment from Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana.” On July 17, 2011 the new movie will premiere. Check out some sneak peek photos from the new movie.
About a month ago, we reported that former ER star and part time Beach Boy, John Stamos traveled with the band for a benefit concert to Alabama and toured around the streets, seeing all the devastation left behind from the tornadoes that had recently ripped through the area.
Well, our very own New York Yankee relief pitcher, David Robertson also has a tie in to the tornadoes in the south. David and wife Erin are originally from Alabama so this event was very near and dear to their hearts. Their foundation, High Socks for Hope held a fundraiser event last night at The Hard Rock Cafe at Yankee Stadium to raise money for the victims of the horrible tornadoes. In attendance were teammate Nick Swisher and wife, actress Joanna Garcia supporting the cause through and through. Everyone appeared to be in great spirits as the Yankees were just coming off a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers. Nick was all smiles with his larger than life personality that is so contagious.
There was a nice sized crowd filling the entire Hard Rock Cafe as the event took place. Yankees ace, CC Sabathia and his wife also spent some time there as everyone enjoyed the night for a great cause. Hard Rock Cafe also presented David and Erin Robertson with a large sized check to help the victims of the Alabama tornado.
David and Erin both took to their twitters shortly after the event thanking everyone for coming out and saying how well it all went.
This won’t be the only event for High Socks for Hope, a number of others are planned for this summer. Watch our upcoming exclusive video of David and Erin, up on Feeling the Vibe Magazine soon.
Bernie Williams has had one busy schedule especially since his first appearance in the New York Yankees’ Old Timers’ Day to which he received a huge response from the crowd. After that he played at Yankee Stadium for a second day in a row in the WFAN charity softball game. Today, Bernie’s brand new book, Rhythms of the Game is in stores nationwide. The book is written by Bernie Williams, David Gluck, and Rob Thompson. All were on hand at Yankee Stadium to celebrate Bernie’s book release.
In addition, familiar faces attended the release event as well including YES commentator Kim Jones, WCBS 880 radio host Suzyn Waldman, and a number of other writers and hosts. Rhythms of the Game came about when co-author David Gluck mentioned to Bernie it might be a good idea to write about the connection between music and baseball. That then catapulted into a highly anticipated book. If you’re a music fan or if you’re a sports fan, or both, you will enjoy this book.
You can purchase Rhythms of the Game online at Amazon.com. Bernie will also be touring around the tristate area for book signings. To see his book signing dates visit Bernie’s official website at www.bernie51.com .
We received the word a few days ago that part time Beach Boy, John Stamos heard about the Beach Boys performing down south in Alabama and wanted to join them. John was quite upset as all of America was in seeing the devastation brought upon this region by some destructive tornadoes. He felt he wanted to help out and bring some happiness back to Alabama with the Beach Boys music.
Feeling the Vibe tweeted the announcement on their official twitter (@feelingthevibe) about the upcoming concerts. John Stamos found it and retweeted it, which ended up sending a flurry of messages and inquiries about the upcoming shows to Feeling the Vibe. So here are the details on the concerts…and the tweet.
Friday, May 13: Huntsville, Alabama at the Von Braun Center Arena starting at 8:30pm
Saturday, May 14: Orange Beach, Alabama at The Wharf Amphitheater starting at 7:00pm
Earlier this year, a town in Rockland County, NY was struck by tragedy as two young baseball players were killed in a car accident on the way to practice. These two boys were huge Yankees fans and without any press or fanfare, Bernie Williams, former New York Yankees Champion, went to visit the town for the inauguration of their baseball season. He also spent time visiting with the families of both boys. Fast forward to October 23, Saturday, a town still hurting from the earlier tragedy brought in a very special Yankee to ease the pain. Although nothing could every change what happened, Bernie Williams and his band were able to honor the two boys in a night of music.
Bernie’s entire band are all big Yankees fans. Before they knew the Yankees were eliminated in the ALCS they planned to give Yankees updates for all concert goers after each song they performed. That idea was changed once Texas moved on to the World Series. However, everyone at the Lafayette theater had the opportunity to be in the presence of a true Yankee, Bernie Williams!
Everyone had a great time at the show, enjoying the atmosphere, the music, and the fun! This band was firing on all cylinders, the energy was amazing. Bernie’s fingers were moving so quickly on that guitar, you just had to sit and watch in awe. Has he been working them out? At one point he said to the audience, “wow, I’m sweating, I might have to start lifting weights again.”
“Ritmo De Otono,” one of our Bernie Williams’ favorites, had a new twist to it. Instead of going right into the song, Bernie began playing only with Richie Cannata on the soprano saxophone. It was a very slow yet emotional introduction, which then quickly contrasted with the whole band jumping in to raise the intensity and the volume of the song.
At one point, Bernie stopped to mention he had been asked for his thoughts many times on the 70th birthday of John Lennon. He said he decided to bring one of John Lennon’s songs, the epically popular, “Imagine” into his show. Soloist Eren Cannata performed the song with such abandon, and a passion where the audience was glued to him throughout the entire performance.
A finding earlier in the day lead to another little twist during, “Fly Like an Eagle” sung by Eren Cannata. The whole band suddenly had on dark black sunglasses throughout the song. They all seemed to enjoy it almost as much as the audience was!
It was a beautiful night in honor of Vincent Crotty and Christopher Konkowski. Funds were raised all around from ticket proceeds, tshirts and other merchandise, plus a very special limited edition photo of Bernie with his guitar. There were 51 photos produced, and 100% of the proceeds for those photos were given to the scholarship funds.
Always a class act on the field, check out his new field, on the stage, with his new team, and you will be sure to always win.

John Stamos recently came off a huge birthday celebration Beach Boys style at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. He said he had over 40 guests including his mother, sisters, former “Full House” costars Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, and Jodi Sweetin. What a kick off as he moves on to his next project, a recurring guest star role on Fox’s hit, “Glee” as a dentist, however he claims his hands are too big to be a dentist..
