The highly anticipated 2014 MTV Video Music Awards will air on Sunday, August 24th at 9 p.m. Last year’s VMA was totally rocking and who could forget Miley Cyrus’ and Robin Thicke’s performance that went viral worldwide and caused a stir among everyone? Although the two will not be taking the stage this year, other artists have been scheduled to perform and by the looks of it, this year’s show will surpass the 2013 VMA’s!
The awards will kick off with a performance debut by Ariana Grande, Jessie J., and Nicki Minaj of their Top 10 hit single Bang Bang. It will be the trio’s first time singing the song live and we are sure it will be smashing! Grande will also perform her newest released single Break Free featuring Zedd.
Last year, Grande performed in the VMA Pre-Show performance with an a capella version of her pop single Baby I and her second single The Way, both from her 2013 album Yours Truly. Just a year ago, she was named an MTV Artist to Watch. Who knew that a year later she would be releasing her second studio album featuring two #1 singles and taking the center stage at the VMA’s?
Ariana Grande has been nominated for 3 VMA Awards, all for her hit song Problem with Iggy Azalea. She will compete against Beyonce, Eminem, and Rihanna for the following categories:
- Best Female Video
- Best Pop Video
- Best Collaboration Awards
To top it off, Ariana Grande will be releasing her second album My Everything on August 25th, a day after the VMA’s. This month is certainly busy and exciting for the 21-year-old pop star!
Other performers who will take the 2014 VMA stage, include Usher, 5 Seconds of Summer, Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea, and Maroon 5.
Who do you think will take home the awards?
