2) Gone Girl

Through flashbacks, we learn that after losing his job, Nick had become unfaithful and lazy to his beautiful wife who remained superior to him. Her disappearance interests the media and the police who begin to question Nick, starting to suspect that he may not be as innocent as he portrays himself. As more evidence is found and collected, all fingers begin to point at Nick. Soon the search is with a haunting question for all: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife? This 2014 film focuses on love, marriage, and unleashes a tale of twisted lies that have occupied the main characters.

3) If I Stay

MoviesThe drama film mixed with a young love story may remind you somewhat of The Fault in Our Stars as it has similar elements of loving in life. If I Stay opens with a flashback from Mia Hall, played by Chloe Grace Moretz, who we learn is a passionate cello player. Returning back to present time, Mia and her family end up in a car accident that puts the young teen girl in a coma. The movie focuses on her struggle for survival as she undergoes surgery with her grandparents and friends by her side. Throughout the film, we see flashbacks from her past of her happiest moments in life and her caring parents by her side. Although this movie may not bring much laughs to the viewers, it does teach significant life lessons throughout and focuses on the idea that “sometimes you make choices in life…sometimes choices make you.”

The film is rated PG-13.

4) Blended

MoviesFor all you fans of The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, prepare yourself for the third romantic comedy collaboration between Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The movie opens up to a disastrous blind date between Jim Friedman (Sandler) and Lauren Reynolds (Barrymore) who vow to never see each other again. As luck will have it, the two meet once again at a pharmacy and mistakably end up with each other’s credit cards. When Jim visits Lauren’s house to retrieve his card, he ends up overhearing that his boss has tickets to Africa. Circumstance leads to the two and their children unknowingly traveling to the same location in Africa for a vacation. They end up having to share a suite in a hotel on their fabulous trip filled with adventure, parachute rides, and visits to see the lions.

The film is rated PG-13.

5) Dolphin Tale 2

MoviesAnimal lovers and especially those who love dolphins will enjoy watching this newly-released movie that focuses on finding a companion for Winter, the dolphin. After the passing of his surrogate mother, Winter feels extremely lonely and his moods drastically change, which begins to worry the team at Clearwater Marine Hospital. So as not to lose Winter to another aquarium, everyone must work hard to find a dolphin friend before time runs out. Dolphin Tale 2 is a sequel of the 2011 movie that followed the friendship of 11-year-old Sawyer Nelson and Winter, a rescued dolphin who was found on a beach. This 2014 movie is filled with lessons of friendship, animal adoration, and a remarkable adventure full of hope that is perfect for becoming a family movie this year.
