The Voice Hella Good – Full Review and Listen!
Season 7 of The Voice premiered on Monday, September 23rd and kicked off with a performance of Hella Good by the four coaches.
Hella Good is a single released by the American rock band No Doubt in 2002. Coach Gwen Stefani is the lead vocalist of the band and Pharrell Williams co-wrote the song. Pharrell has written other hits for Gwen Stefani, including her popular single, Hollaback Girl. It is great to see the two working together once again after so many years!
The audience was excited and cheered on as the music began to play and the coaches prepared to sing on stage. Pharrell Williams was on the drums, Adam Levine playing the electric guitar, Blake Shelton on backup vocals, and Gwen Stefani taking the center stage with her singing.
Red lights dimmed the stage as the crowd went wild for the first performance this season. Gwen Stefani opened the song and was joined by Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. The audience members were dancing to the song and clapping their hands in the air.
Just by watching the performance alone and seeing the great chemistry between the judges during the song, it was clear to tell that this season of The Voice would not disappoint. After all, the most important thing in the show is the interaction between the judges and none of it was lacking.
Surprisingly, Gwen Stefani has not changed much over the years and looks as she did 20 years ago. She came on stage wearing black, leather pants and a dark see-through tank. It fit well with the song, giving off that “rock vibe,” yet fitting in well with the outfits of the others. On that note, we hope to see more of Gwen’s different styles on The Voice this season. After all, she is a fashion designer and the owner of 4 clothing lines.
What made the song even better was the musical skills and vocals of the coaches. Blake Shelton’s southern style surprisingly fit in well with the No Doubt’s song and brought a unique sound to the stage. Gwen Stefani’s vocals were incredible and her overall stage presence was very engaging.
Adam showed off his skills on the electric guitar and when he began to sing, it felt like we were at a Maroon 5 concert. Pharrell displayed his drumming skills in the background, while joining in with the other 3 judges. He looked very happy playing the drums as Blake Shelton clapped along to the beat (no pun intended!)
On one of the verses, he sang, “Who would have thought it’d be the two of us, girl?” towards Gwen as she made approving hand gestures and smiled at him. The two have produced many hits over the years and will hopefully collaborate again in the future.
Although all the coaches brought a positive atmosphere to the stage, it was really Gwen who stole the show and shined in front of the cameras. The crowd sang the chant “ooh! ooh!” along with her and totally went wild!
So far, this season of The Voice is looking good and the contestants are in for a fierce competition. The judges are totally cool with winning over the singers, including writing love poems and handing out stylish shirts. It will be great to see the judges mentor the singers and decide who The Voice will be over the next few months.
